The relationship between professionalism and work engagement of Korean medical doctor : Moderating effecting of organizational justice

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of professionalism of Korean medical doctors working in public health sector on work engagement and to examine whether organizational justice has a moderating effect in this relationship. For this, all Korean medical doctors, except public health practitioner, working at public health sector and local medical centers were received survey questionnaires and 72.4% of them responded. The professionalism, organizational justice, and work engagement were revised to reflect work situation of the Korean medicine practice and the questionnaire with pretested was surveyed via e-mail. The relationship was examined by hierarchical multiple linear regression analysis. The professional self-esteem among professionalism and organizational justice (procedural justice and interactions justice) had a positive relationship with work engagement. The greater the professional self-esteem among professionalism, the more job enthusiasm, interactions justice has a moderating effect on the relationship between professionalism and work engagement. This result implies that work engagement by the Korean medical doctor working in the public health sector could be strengthen by taking this relationship into consideration
